Verity Watkins

Verity is a contemporary animal portrait artist. Her paintings, produced using mainly acrylic paint, some with resin, are bursting with colour and texture, and show the quirky characteristics of her subject through her painting style and composition.

Verity likes to play with the natural character of the animals and enhance that through her painting. Verity studied Textile Design at Nottingham Trent University and then went on to complete a PGCE in 2002.

In 2009, Verity moved to Qatar for 8.5 years, where she spent her time studying and painting camels; with their expressive faces they were the perfect subject to explore.

She took part in many group and solo exhibitions in Qatar, and since being back in Suffolk, has joined the Suffolk Open Studios and Art in East Anglia art groups.

More recently her work has been focussed on endangered wildlife, as well as common farm animals.

In the summer 2021, Verity completed the Framlingham Mural outside 221b bakery in Framlingham.

In 2022 Verity opened her own studio “studio 10a” in Framlingham, offering art classes and workshops to adults and children.
