Sherie Brinkley
Sherie specialised in painting for her Art and Design degree, for which she was awarded in 2001. Her large expressive landscapes gained a first. Shortly after completing her degree she won the Anna Airy award.
The relationship between human and nature is the underlying theme of her work. Sherie strives to portray the unique freedom of wild places, in a civilisation where the countryside is constantly being urbanised and wild places are under threat.
Based in Suffolk, Sherie explores the expressive qualities of mixed media to create atmospheric landscapes, reminiscent of a place or moment in time.
“My paintings pay homage to nature and the wild places that I love; places where I feel humble and to simply exist gives one a sense of belonging and a connection with the earth. Modern life increasingly dictates every element of our lives. My work is an escapism.”
